Over the years, we have been privileged to intervene at the right time to save a child's life. Some of our rescue missions have often made the difference between life and death for these abandoned and/or orphaned children in dire need of life support.
Together we are building a brighter future, full of hope and transformation.
Peace Ruharuza founded the Fountain of Peace in 2005, driven by a firm conviction to help rural, orphaned, and abandoned children. Her commitment stemmed from her childhood experiences, which deeply affected her and many of her friends. She found hope through the kindness of a stranger, leading her to believe that we have a responsibility to show the same compassion and mercy to others that we have received ourselves.
Since its inception, Peace has been joined by hundreds of supporters worldwide, creating a global community dedicated to giving abandoned and destitute children a chance to survive, thrive, and reach their full potential. Together, we rescue children, build loving homes, create families, and raise leaders based on a solid Christian foundation.
Providing a loving Christian home and comprehensive care for orphaned and abandoned children in Western Uganda
We provide orphaned and abandoned children with a loving Christian home where they receive all the love, care, protection and practical support they need to thrive. Most children come to us at, or soon after, birth and we are committed to caring for them until old enough to be independent. We are one of few registered children's homes in the region, and therefore our services are in great demand. We care for all our children as if they were our own, giving them all the love and support they need along the way.
We are based in the Kyenjojo District of Western Uganda. The Kyenjojo region is stunningly beautiful, but also marred by extreme poverty. Unemployment, maternal mortality and malnutrition are all too common in the region where many children are left orphaned or abandoned. As a result of the extensive poverty, school attendance is well below the national average and access to healthcare and job opportunities is difficult.
Providing a nurturing environment with comprehensive emotional and physical care.
Supporting children's education from early years through to independence.
Working with local communities to create lasting positive change.
Giving hope and transforming lives for Uganda's children.
Providing hope and a secure future, in a Christian environment, for orphaned, abandoned, and other critically vulnerable children of Western Uganda.
Giving each child a home and a family.
Giving each child an education and a future.
Empowering our children and the local community.
At Fountain of Peace, our dedication extends beyond supporting the children in our care. We are committed to bringing transformative solutions to the vulnerable communities around us. Over 300 vulnerable children are getting a quality education through our Rwenjaza Hillside Nursery and Primary School. Through this, we are equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.
Moreover, addressing the critical need for clean water has been one of our primary objectives. We have successfully constructed more than 20 wells, ensuring nearby communities can access safe, life-sustaining water. This initiative promotes better health and empowers communities to thrive and prosper. We also have an initiative called Mothers Matter in childbirth, through which we support pregnant mothers to get the medical attention they need. This way, we promote safe childbirth.
Our mission is guided by compassion and a deep-seated belief that every child and community deserves the opportunity to flourish. We are immensely grateful for the support and collaboration of those who share our vision. Together, we will continue to make a significant and positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

On March 5th, Fountain of Peace responded to a call from Kyenjojo District's Senior Probation and Social Welfare Officer about Baby Patrick, a three-week-old infant in need of alternative care after his mother, Annet Kebirungi, passed away on March 1st due to a sudden illness. Annet left behind six children under the care of their father, Chris, who was overwhelmed by the responsibility, prompting intervention. Upon arrival, Baby Patrick was healthy, weighing 3.6 kg and feeding well. Fountain of Peace welcomed Patrick as our newest baby, providing him with care and support and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment where he can thrive.
Thank you for your interest in Patrick's story. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of more children like him.
